In a closely contested first set, Blazers just managed to get over the line as they won 26-24 to make their statement of intent.
However, KDF came charging back immediately in the second set as they knicked a 21-25 win to set up the game for a potential five set match.
But with Blazers keen on getting all the three points to boost their playoff bid, 25-19 and 25-22 wins in the third and fourth sets handed them the precious points as they sealed the victory.
"It was a crucial match for us in that the win puts us in a better position to qualify for the playoffs. KDF is an intelligent and experienced team and it took us time to study their play. In the end we managed to get the job done. We now have one foot in the playoffs but our remaining clashes are still very tough so we need not to rest on our laurels," Blazers head coach said.
"Today, our strong point which is blocking was totally lacking, and in volleyball if you can't block you cannot win. Our players also lost their concentration as the match progressed which ultimately cost us the game," Elisha Aliwa, KDF head coach lamented.
In the other game, reigning champions GSU maintained their 100% start to the season as they swept aside AP Kenya in a convincing straight set performance, grabbing a 25-17, 25-23, 25-19 straight forward win that sealed their 9th victory of the campaign.
"We played really well in our game. I anticipated a win but I did not think it would be this easy for us. All in all, I am pleased with how the results went," head coach Gideon Tarus said.
